Hervey Bay is a big town with a population of about 53,500 people and is a town where the local economy relies on tourism. Whale watching is a prime drawcard having World Heritage Fraser Island and Lady Elliot Island nearby.
The weather is excellent from an average of 30 degrees in summer to 23 degrees in winter it makes the ideal holiday destination.
Although whale watching can be experienced in some other places of Australia it is Hervey Bay that has been recognised at the whale watching capital of the world.
The lifestyle draws many people to the town. During the Humpback Whale season of July to November millions of people come to experience the spectacular event every year.
