Queensland is Australia's second largest state and is nicknamed the Sunshine state.
Queensland has a population of around 4.2 million people of which the majority of people live in coastal areas.
The capital is Brisbane and the area south from Southport to Coolangatta is famously known as the Gold Coast region.
The majority of Queensland has a very tropical climate especially to the north where areas like Cairns, Port Douglas and Cooktown are located.
The far northern point of Queensland is only 200kms from Papua New Guinea if you cross the Torres Strait.
