Karratha Information
Karratha is situated right in the heart of the Pilbara Coast. It is practically the tourist visitor centre of the pilbara. Being the largest well serviced town it offers a variety of tourist experiences to travellers.
Many people live in Karratha permanently as nearby is the Dampier salt and Woodside's North West Shelf pojects. There really are some massive mining, petroleum and oil and gas projects happening here.
As always Australian's are a friendly bunch that like tourists and travellers. Karratha is no different. You may meet alot of interesting people in this town who will enjoy telling you stories about the area would love to here about your travels.
If you are looking for some tourist fascination, look for the Jaburara Heritage Trail. The Aboriginal culture is extremely interesting ans there is a 3.5 km trail near the town. There are authentic engravings and artifacts left behind by the Jaburara people who were here long before white settlement.
As well as it's own extensive variety of tourism experiences, karratha boasts many excellent accomodation, restaurant and entertainment venues all geared up to entertain your senses and giving you a memorable holiday.
The founder of this website and the tourist newspaper has a friend who now lives and resides in Karratha. He simply went for a job interview and never came back. Our friend keeps telling us he will visit but he seems to. the fact is he's too happy in Karratha.
